Vision and Mission:

To create a conducive environment for learning and resourcefulness by providing resources (both human and machines) that will enhance the capacity building in strong statistical modeling and practicable data science.

Goals of FUOYE-LISA:

To train the students
Build capacity of staff/students in Statistical advocacy and Data Science support
To impart on how to use Statistics appropriately
To enhance statistical computing expertise for staff in Agriculture, Engineering, Environment and other interested discipline.
To provide Statistical assistance to those researchers working on grant proposals to include statistical consulting and data analysis as an item in their research plans.
To create a platform for Promotion of interdisciplinary and collaborative research culture.
To provide consultancy to researchers, private and public organizations
To Collaborate through interdisciplinary researchers and other Stat Labs

The stat lab aspire to accomplish the following:

To serve as a consulting unit for the use of Statistics appropriately among staffs and students, it expected that 25-50 students and staffs will be engaged monthly.
To target joint publication with colleagues in other disciplines, publish in high impact journals.
To arrange Seminars/Workshops by eminent Statisticians/Data Scientist, also 25-50 participants will be embraced monthly.
To create awareness through advertisement of the lab and its services to members of the University community
To motivate lecturers to include the use of data visualization while delivering their courses/teaching
To instill skills of deliverables of relevance Statistical tools for grant proposal writing for funding.
To help upcoming economists, engineers and environmentalist in their practices through mentorship programs and refresher courses.
Elucidate the discipline of Statistics to be attractive.
To provide short courses and use of statistical software/packages to meet research objectives
